You are surely right, John, though I have no memory of the Paris example.
An earlier (first half of the 12th c.), detailed treatment of the Theophilus
story--following Rutebeuf, I believe (or some common source??)--is to be found
in the spectacular SW France "portal" at Souillac, probably discussed at
length in an article by Meyer Schapiro which I've been meaning to read for
decades.
