I second Nancy's suggestion: I was not yet aware of this new book, but Anne
Winston-Allen has been widely recognised as the leading authority on this
subject since the publication of her article "Tracing the Origins of the
Rosary", _Speculum_ 68 (1993), p.619-636.
Our member Carlos Sastre recently pointed us also to Roberta J. M. Olson,
"The Rosary and Its Iconography, Part I: Background for Devotional Tondi",
_Arte Cristiana_ 86 (1998), p.263-276, mentioning also a forthcoming book
by the same author, _The Florentine Tondo_.
