Sorry for the delay in replying i have been laid up with a bad back.
The conference is held at Charlotte Mason College Ambleside Cumbria on
Saturday !7th April 1999.
The conference consists of four talks of about 45 minutes allowing for
questions after.
Booking in is between 9.30 and 10.00
After a short introduction the first talk is by Geoff Brambles a
geography/geology teacher in Cumbria and a member of the Cumbrian Geology
society on building stones of Cumbria.
There is then a short break for coffee before Ian Tyler a well known
industrial historian who runs the Threlkeld Mining museum near Keswick will
talk on gypsum mining and plaster production in Cumbria. Ian has wrote
numerous books on mining history in Cumbria.
There is then a break for lunch, which is followed by a talk by me on Brick
production in Carlisle. Unfortuneately I have no suitable pedigree other
than an enthusiastic amatuer.
The final talk is by Mrs Matthews who is conected with the family building
firm of Pattinsons from Windermere and she is going to talk about the
history and work of this firm in Cumbria.
The cost of the conference is £8.00 and there is also a bookable lunch
available at £8.00.
