You could certainly add Antonio Tabucchi as a sort of
`crime' writer, where the act of detection turns into a
philosophical search for identity in a fragmentary
universe.
(I have done a paper on `The Figure of the
Detective in Tabucchi's Writings', part of a volume on the
`figure of the detective in postwar european fiction'
edited by Anne Mullen and Eimer O'Beirn to be published by
Rodophi.)
