1. COAD #1 was a great success, admitting 332 patients in less than 5
weeks (that's 1 every 30 minutes, compared to 1 every three days [for a
year!] in the only other level 1 study of COAD). the preliminary analysis
was sent out to the 25 collaborating teams (from 14 countries) the day
after patient entry closed, and the full analysis and draft manuscript are
going out to them by 1 march.
2. Based on the collaborators' assessments of the preliminary analysis of
COAD #1, they've already launched COAD #2! IT WILL RUN TO MARCH 8TH (WITH
THE ANALYSIS GOING OUT THE NEXT DAY). IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR OTHER MEMBERS
OF CARE OR OF THE EBH DISCUSSION GROUP TO JOIN THIS SECOND STUDY AT:
www.carestudy.com
AND IF YOU KNOW ANY NON-MEMBERS WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED, PLEASE FORWARD
THIS NOTE TO THEM. THANKS!
3. A paper describing the parent CARE enterprise is currently being
revised at the request of a leading clinical journal. we'll let you know
as soon as it's in the press.
4. a separate note will describe another proposed study of a
clinical sign that may help us rule-out high intracranial pressure and
avoid the necessity for CT scans.
many many thanks to our clincial collaborators for making all this so
successful and so much fun!
cheers,
dls
ps: i'm looking forward to being able to devote much more time helping
sharon straus and finaly mcalister with CARE once i shed my duties here in
oxford and get back to my satellite-linked cabin in the wilds of canada!
