School of Computing, Engineering and Technology
North East Multimedia Consortium
This European Union funded project will provide innovative forms of
support to users and producers of digital multimedia in the North-East
of England. An industry-led collaborative cluster will develop and
implement a strategy for regional multimedia companies. All
appointments will be fixed term to 30/9/00, with a possible extension
to 31/12/01. Suitable candidates will be encouraged to register for a
higher degree. A current driving licence is required . Some early
evening work will be required for occasional consortium events.
Part-time appointments can be considered.
There are over 90 research staff and students in the School, and over
80 academic staff, making it one of the largest academic computing
centres in the UK. The project will be based in the Informatics Centre,
a recent building of exceptional architectural merit in an attractive
riverside location at St.Peter's Campus.

A graduate with a business-related, communication or human-science
degree, you will support the project board and working groups, strategy
development, implementation and monitoring, attracting and retaining
members, marketing the consortium to the region, liaising with relevant
regional organisations and organising events and missions for regional
multimedia firms and users.

A graduate with a computing or digital media degree, you will develop
project databases, ensure data quality, develop promotional digital
media and provide technical support for regional multimedia firms and
