Lectureships (3 Posts)
Following the success of the Department in securing ESRC Research
Group funding, the opportunity has arisen to appoint three lecturers
in the fields of Sociology/Social Policy to replace seconded
colleagues for three years from September 1 1999 to 31 August 2002.
The successful candidates will have been awarded (or be about to be
examined for) a PhD. They should have relevant teaching experience
and a proven ability to publish. It is expected that two of those
appointed will be specialists in an area of Sociology, and one in an
area of Social Policy. At least two of the successful candidates will
be expected to make a significant contribution to the Department's
Level 1 courses.
All will be expected to teach at higher levels, and to have research
interests and teaching specialisms in at least one of the following
areas: the body, comparative sociology/social policy, contemporary
societies, culture, development sociology, disability, ethnicity,
family, gender, globalisation, health and illness, identity,
sexuality, social policy/welfare reform, theory and methods. Salary:
