Call for Papers:
Special Stream: Gender and Power
As women gain access to the structures of power, our understanding of the
nature of power and its distribution becomes ever more complex and broad.
The aim of this stream overall is to problematise the relationship between
gender and power-related structures and processes in a comparative context.
We are interested in exploring how women-specific and gender-related
analyses challenge existing conceptualisations and understandings. In
relation to power, we emphasise in particular issues of access,
participation and identity. Sites of power in politics, the economy or civic
and private life are all of interest.
We therefore invite papers which address one or more of these topics and can
contribute to a discussion which is oriented to theory and concepts as well
as to empirical issues. A particular aspect of the stream which we wish to
emphasise is its comparative focus. In this regard we welcome both papers
which are explicitly comparative, in that they are based on analyses of
different countries and/or time periods, and those which can contribute to a
discussion which has the comparative dimension of gender and power in the
foreground.
