Announcement of Green Energy Workshops
Workshops will include the presentation and discussion of a new report on green energy by Leonardo Academy. Green energy is energy that is produced or used in ways that reduce the pollution and other environmental impacts caused by consumers' energy use.
As consumers, we use a lot of energy, both directly in our homes and vehicles, and indirectly through the goods and services we buy. The energy we use causes pollution and other environmental impacts.
Green energy gives consumers a direct opportunity to reduce the pollution and other environmental impacts that our energy use causes. Green Energy gives each of us the opportunity to lead the way to a cleaner environment for ourselves, our children, and future generations.
WORKSHOP CONTENT
This workshop will:
-Provide information about what green energy is, what types are available, and what environmental benefits each type provides
-Help consumers decide what kind of green energy is right for them to buy
-Help organizations with public health, energy, and environmental interests decide what kind of green energy to recommend to their members
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Both individual members of the public and representatives of organizations that are interested in improving public health, increasing energy efficiency, renewable energy, or reducing environmental pollution.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Program and Green Energy Project:
Leonardo Academy Inc. is a nonprofit organization working on energy and environmental issues. Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Program is focused on putting the competitive market to work for the environment.
Demand for green energy can be created in a variety of ways: directly by consumers, through regulatory processes, or legislation. The combined impact of the demand for green energy will drive the market to deliver more green energy. Therefore, green energy choices are becoming available to consumers, even where utility industry restructuring has not yet occurred. Where electric utility industry restructuring has been implemented, consumers can choose who they buy electricity from and how their electricity is produced, and thus have many green energy choices available to them. Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Green Energy Project is helping organizations and individuals decide what green energy choices fit their particular objectives and pocketbooks.
To help organizations and individuals make their decisions, Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Program is preparing and distributing information on the costs, benefits, and issues affecting choices among different types of green energy. Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Green Energy Project Newsletter is part of this effort. Issue No. 1 of the Green Energy Project Newsletter describes the Green Energy Project in greater detail. Subsequent issues will address the costs, benefits, and other issues affecting choices among green energy options. Newsletters can be viewed or downloaded from Leonardo Academy's Cleaner and Greener Program's Web Site at http://www.cleanerandgreener.org/GEP-NLS.htm
