Do you have a disability? Do you work with people with disability? Are you
interested in sex and sexuality issues? Do you want an opportunity to
challenge mainstream assumptions about the loves, lives and relationships
of people with disability?
If your answer is YES, then People with Disabilities (NSW) Inc invites you
to an exciting and thought provoking lecture presented by Dominic Davies.
Dominic Davies is a well-known authority in the area of disability and
sexuality, and promises to provide an informative and controversial
lecture. Dominic Davies is the co-author of 'The Sexual Politics of

Sexuality is a neglected subject in the lives of people with a disability.
It is a topic society would prefer to ignore, hoping it will just go away -
well it won't! Every day, people with disability are coming out and
claiming their basic human right to loving and fulfilling sexual
relationships. This one hour lecture will address some of the current
controversies in the field of disability and sexuality, and give voice to
the experience of people with disability. After the lecture there will be a
chance to voice your opinions and discuss the issues raised.
Some of the subjects under discussion will be
_ The social context of disability and sexuality
- Sexual Abuse
- Developing Positive Self-esteem
- Assisted Sex and the role of personal care assistants in the sexual lives
of people with disability
- Sexual surrogacy and sex workers
- Devotee's, Pretender's and Wannabe's; allies or wierdo's
- Positive Developments - some suggestions for a way forward.
The style will be challenging, the content controversial, the message
inspiring.... Come and be a part of it.
