Dear All,
Here is the UCISA survey that was mentioned in the notes from the TLT-Officers
(North) meeting. Although it has been distributed to UCISA Directors and if
you are based in a Computing/Information service we would ask that you liaise
with your Director about a response, we also welcome contributions from members
of other Learning Technology Support units/individuals within institutions.
Susan.

>
> UCISA-TLIG: Teaching, Learning and Information Group
>
> *********************************************************************
> Support provided in Universities and Colleges for the use of technology in
> teaching and learning.
>
> A survey funded by UCISA and carried out by the Teaching and Learning
> subgroup of UCISA-TLIG.

> UCISA would greatly appreciate your contribution to this survey, either by
> completing the questionnaire yourself, or passing the details to the most
> appropriate person in your department.
>
> What is this survey about?
>
> UCISA is aware that there is a growing new role being adopted by
> Computing/Information Services in providing support for Learning and Teaching
>
> Technology (LaTT). In some cases this is being achieved by the creation of
> special posts (e.g. Learning Technology Support Officer), in others, by
> developing the scope of existing services. Such a role goes beyond the
> provision of technical support, help desk support and IT training.
>
> The survey is needed to help UCISA make informed responses to proposals or
> consultative documents where this developing aspect of its members' work is
> sometimes overlooked. Also UCISA and its sub-groups wish to provide help
> and support through workshops, advice, staff development activities etc.
>
> The survey aims to find out where LaTT support is based in institutions, the
> role of Computing/Information Services, the contribution made to special
> initiatives and collaborative ventures and the kind of posts being created.
>
> You will receive a questionnaire in the post in the near future - please look
> out
> for it! Alternatively you may use the Web form at:
>
> http://ktru-main.lancs.ac.uk/PUBLIC/LaTT.nsf
>
> Replies are requested by 22 February 1999. A copy of the full report will be
> made available only to those UCISA member sites who who reply to the survey.

> The survey is being organised by Susan Armitage, Learning Technology
> Development
> Officer, Lancaster University . Please address any queries to her.
