OPPORTUNITIES IN SOCIAL SURVEYS
EXPERIENCED RESEARCHERS/STATISTICIAN VACANCIES
Britain’s largest independent social research institute, with 160+ staff
and an annual research income of some £12m, now has attractive vacancies in
its Quantitative Research Department which contains approx. 40 researchers.
The posts are based at SCPR’s head offices in Islington, EC1.
SCPR specialises in the design, conduct and reporting of surveys in fields
such as health, education, employment, social security, family finances,
socio-legal issues and political and social attitudes. Some of our work is
commissioned, while some is grant-funded; it covers the spectrum from
one-off projects to continuous, long term studies. We have an in-house
Survey Methods Centre, a Qualitative Research Unit and an office in Scotland.
We offer competitive salaries, good prospects for advancement, favourable
working conditions (including generous holiday entitlement, an excellent
pension scheme and every other Friday off) and a stimulating, hardworking
and friendly environment.
We now have the following vacancies for experienced applicants with a
minimum of three years’ relevant experience:
· a researcher with strong skills and interest in survey
organisation/administration, to take a major role in the running of one of
our large continuous studies, combined with opportunities to work on ad hoc
surveys
· a researcher to work on ad hoc surveys, who enjoys the challenge of
variety and who is able to design and run surveys, write proposals and
reports and manage junior staff
· a well-qualified statistician, with several years’ experience, to join
our Health Surveys Research Group. Experience of SPSS and working with
large and complex data sets is essential; knowledge of medical statistics
would be an advantage.
Salaries range from around £22K to £35K, according to experience.
In addition, there are opportunities from time to time for appointments
which would suit a recent first degree (min. 2.1) or Master’s graduate, or
someone with one or two years experience in survey or qualitative research.
If you would like to be considered for such an appointment, please forward
your CV. You will then be asked to complete an SCPR application form if we
wish to take forward your inquiry.
