UKOLUG Meeting

**Arts & Humanities on the Internet: Evaluating Quality Resources**

Tuesday 27th April 1999, 09.45 - 16.30
Oxford University Computing Services, 13 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 6NN

This session is designed to highlight resources of interest  available on the 
Internet to arts and humanities scholars. The  focus will be on evaluating 
high quality resources, especially those available within the UK HE 
community, and will  explore some of the issues involved in an age of 
blossoming  digital cultural heritage: standards for data creation and  
retrieval, digital preservation, copyright, access and reuse  from the 
perspective of both the creator and the end user.  The day will be a mix of 
presentations, demonstrations and an  opportunity for some handson 
experience.

10.15   An overview of Arts and Humanities provision on the Internet (Susan
      Jephcott, Arts and Humanities Data Service) 
10.45   Developments at the PADS (Speaker to be confirmed,  Performing Arts
      Data Service)		 
11.15	Coffee and hands-on
11.30   The CTI centres for the Arts and Humanities (Speaker(s) to be
      confirmed) 
12.30	Lunch and hands-on
14.00   Evaluating quality resources - the view from a gateway (Rebecca
      Bradshaw, ADAM, the Art, Design, Architecture & Media Information
      Gateway) 
14.45	Art Abstracts and PCI (Andrew Bevan, EDINA)
15.30	Coffee and hands-on
16.00	Conclusion and close
