Title: Map your way to better understanding with Decision
Explorer
Host/ Sponsor: The Operational Research Society
Date: Friday 19th February 1999
Trainer/ Facilitator: Kenny Forsyth, PricewaterhouseCoopers
Location: Birmingham, UK
Description:
Working with information from an individual or a group, Decision
Explorer can be used to generate "maps" of ideas and to pull
them together to form a coherent picture to help to improve
understanding of a situation It is a "visual thinking" tool.
This workshop is aimed at practitioners - management researchers
and consultants or those involved in facilitation/ decision
support - and will focus on cognitive mapping, its application
for decision support in strategy development and the use of the
Decision Explorer software to support the process. The ideas
presented in the workshop are based on the research and writings
of Colin Eden and Fran Ackermann (both of Strathclyde
University, Glasgow). Their recently published book, "Making
Strategy: the journey of strategic management" (Sage 1998),
deals in detail with some of the techniques covered in the
workshop.
