I hope its in order to mention our modest journal in Staffordshire.
Just beginning its 15th year of publication is the "STAFFORDSHIRE HISTORY"
Journal. Two volumes a year are published (Spring and Autumn) and the
latest is Volume 28 which although rather slim at only 20 pages this time,
includes a subject and author index for all the volumes published so far.
Subscription is only £8 per year (for two volumes) including postage in the
UK.
So far it has been edited by Dudley Fowkes, until recently Staffordshire's
County Archivist.
Over the years there have been some excellent contributions by many local
historians covering all parts of Staffordshire, including rural and urban
areas, including Walsall and West Bromwich (which some claim is still in
Staffordshire :-)
Volume 28 contains not only the Cumulative Index but also "The House of
Correction at Stafford 1598-1647" by A J Standley; "The Closure of
Wolverhampton House of Correction" by A J Standley; "The Manor of Great
Haywood" by Dudley Fowkes; "Stephen Chesters, Portrait Artist c.1819-1886"
by Anne Bayliss; "Two Volumes of Salt Family Papers in the College of Arms
- A Note" by Dudley Fowkes; and "Wings over Wheaton Aston" by Ken Harris.
Back Numbers are still available apart from the first few volumes. An
example of valuable contributions in past issues are: "A practical guide
to Staffordshire newspapers and where to find them" Vol. 23 1-46; "The
Pendrill Pensions" Vol. 20 1-41.
Staffordshire has no county or archaelogical society and consequently no
county journal covering these subjects. Staffordshire History is a
voluntary publication designed to fill this gap and is published by an
ad-hoc committee with the help of the Community Council of Staffordshire.
Enquiries and subscriptions (£8 per year for 2 volumes; single volumes £4 -
cheques to "Staffordshire History") should be sent to:

Another fifty subscriptions would keep this valuable county publication
alive.
