Dear LIRG member,
You are invited to a focus group on Research Funding which is being
arranged specifically for LIRG members. The emphasis of this meeting will
be on the research funding needs of practising librarians and information
professionals who engage in some research or who are interested in doing
so.
The meeting will take place on Monday 8th February 1999 from 1 pm until
4:30 pm in Central London.
The meeting is being organised as part of a review of research funding
relating to library and information services. We are conducting this
review on behalf of the Library and Information Commission and the British
Library Research and innovation Centre. At its last meeting the LIRG
Committee kindly agreed to this focus group for LIRG Members.
We are particularly interested in your views about:
*Current sources of funding
*Problems associated with obtaining funding
*Ways of achieving better access to research funds
*Your requirements for information on funding
The focus group session will provide an opportunity of meeting colleagues
and exchanging views in this area. It is also an opportunity to feed into
the LIC's plans for implementing the National Research Strategy.
The meeting is free of charge and lunch will be provided. If you have any
special dietary requirements, please let me know. Full details of the
meeting will be sent to all confirmed delegates.
If you are able to participate in the focus group on 8th February, please
contact me at the address below or reply by e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you.
David.
