CALL FOR PAPERS

Modernity, Minorities and Migration Between the Wars
An Interdisciplinary Conference
13-15 September 2000, The Queen's University of Belfast
The German Department at The Queen's University of Belfast is
organising a conference on culture and society in Central Europe in
the inter-war years. The conference aims to draw together
contributions from various fields of study dealing with new
developments in the cultures and societies of Austria, Czechoslovakia
and Germany. Papers may investigate aspects of contemporary political
discourse, uses of the media, cultural reflections of modernity,
problems of urban culture or contributions of minorities and
migrants. Conference contributions should stimulate a discussion of
exchanges, conflicts, similarities or differences between the three
countries.
We would like to invite contributions in English or German. Please
send abstracts of papers (150- 200 words) by 30 June 1999 to:
Dr Susanne Marten-Finnis ([log in to unmask])
