Yes, I agree Darren.
Laptops are an ergonomic disaster. There is certainly an
opportunity in the market for a manufacturer to develop
a laptop whose screen can somehow be put up at a better
level. In the interim, my only suggestion to laptop users
is to definitely have a normal computer monitor at home
and at the office, so that the only time the neck is
being "flexually abused" is when they're using their
computer during travels. (This of course assumes they
raise their normal monitors up to an effective level.)
For someone who travels most of the time, that advice
is not much help.
Why don't you team up with an industrial designer and
develop an ergonomic laptop, put a provisional patent on
it, and approach someone like Toshiba. (Easier said than
done! But if you have a passion for it ...)

This is about the 3rd time I posted something on "Laptop" Ergonomics
over the past 3 years. We have seen a dramatic increase if the number
of people using or about to use laptops. Most of our field staff and
managers have them to work away from the office.
I have seen a lot of gadgets but nothing to really solve the ergonomic
issues...one of my co-workers puts it this way......"Laptop use defies
most ergonomic principles. Unfortunately the only person a laptop would
"fit" would be an anatomical mutant with arms exiting their waist and
eyes looking out from their chest level."....
Has anyone found information that supports laptop use? I am thinking
NO...and if there is does the screen detach from the notebook, if not
you must have one of these anatomical mutants working on the computer.
Looking forward to the discussions........
