I must admit to thinking 'what a foolish and misguided man Mr. Hoddle is!
On a slippery slope I think.
His comments aroused nothing but a smirk and a head shake from me.
Someone who has a history of outrageous speeches, and who lays claim to such
opinions, certainly does not have the ability to offend me.
I was more interested, and saddened by some of the responses from people
'working with disabled people' (today's Times).
Remarks such as 'He (Glen Hoddle) has been gifted with an able body',
allegedly made by a member of the CP football squad, and the secretary
general of the Disabled Christian Fellowship who is quoted as saying 'I
worship a God who has no desire for anybody to have a physical disability'.
Far more disturbing I think, when these people are considered to be
representative of people with disabilities.
Clear front page evidence of the views of wider society?
Gill.
