Associate/Full Professor in Qualitative Research
The College of Education at Ohio University is currently seeking applicants
for an Associate/Full Professor in the area of Qualitative Research.
Located in the city of Athens, Ohio University is a multi-campus Research
II institution, enrolling more than 19,000 students on the Athens campus
and more than 8,000 students on five regional campuses. The University is
a member of the Association of Research Libraries. Sponsored research in
1996-97 exceeded $34 million. In addition to its commitment to excellence
in residential undergraduate education and to increasing its research
capacity, Ohio University has a long tradition of educational outreach
through its regional campuses, external degree programs, and partnerships
with educational institutions in other countries. The starting date will
be September 1999.
The Associate/Full Professor position in Qualitative Research is a
tenure-track position. Candidates are expected to have confidence with and
an understanding of a variety of qualitative methodologies and associated
theoretical perspectives, teach graduate courses in educational research
and evaluation, provide leadership in program development, conduct research
in field of specialization, supervise dissertations, and participate in
faculty governance. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in education
or related area, higher education experience, evidence of distinguished
scholarship, and a commitment to qualitative inquiry.
This position is contingent upon funding and salary will be competitive and
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Nominations are
encouraged. Although, the review of applications will begin January 30,
1999, because applications will continue to be reviewed until the position
is filled, applications received prior to February 23, 1999 will be given
