I can't help but wonder what her goals for treatment / recovery are ??
With regard to increasing stability, decrease neutral zones etc there are the
wealth of stability exercises, transverse abdominus and multifidus work.
My interest lies more in the realm of chronic pain and hence my attention was
drawn more to the fact she has constant pain, reduced sitting / standing
tolerance and hence am curious as to what she percieves her goals for recovery
are ?
To reflect therefore, you may well increase stability etc which is no bad
thing but not change her pain, which she would then perceive as a failure of
physiotherapy and conservative treatment. Only then to have further surgery
and maybe experience
further lack of improvement in her pain levels.
The goals of treatment agreed between patient and therapist are so vital
especially in these complicated chronic cases. In light of my comments I could
come up with some suggestions with regard to improving her tolerances,
improving her physical activity levels and preventing flare ups. In line with
most pain management programmes.
If this would be useful let me know .
I look forward to your reply
