You're right - the automated NIBP always gets done.
Does it alter management? Answer unfortunately yes, because people (never
pre-hospital personnel who've got more sense) rest on their laurels,
diligently documenting it, without looking at the patient.
Example of this recently when I had to intercept shipping of septic 38-year
old, post-arrest, to ITU. Patient was mottled with no radial, with Dynamap
saying 150/128 or something, and nursing staff looked at me funny when I
called it "made-up numbers". I checked a manual myself - unrecordable, it
turned out. Had to endure much huffing and puffing of porters while
adrenaline infusion was set up before setting sail - people still looking
at me sceptically.
Sadly, not a one-off situation, even with otherwise excellent staff.
