Just out of idle curiosity...
What do you use for sedating/anaesthetizing kids, e.g. boisterous 2-year
old with cut lip needing sutures?
I know the subject has been covered in the trade rags ad nauseam, but
not sure any consensus has ever been reached.
I'm thinking of things like:
Ketamine (airway risk seems minimal, anyone looked at incidence of
nightmares afterwards? Anyone from Lancaster reading this?)
Oromorph (rarely seems to do anything at the doses suggested)
Midazolam (someone else has asked recently: "If they can't remember it,
is it still pain?")
"Brutacaine" (sit on them and get it finished quick)
Topical anaethesia (various cocktails of cocaine, adrenaline and local)
General anaethesia???
