Subject: Centre for Cross-Cultural Research on Women
The Centre for Cross-Cultural Research on Women is based at Queen
Elizabeth House, a department of the University of Oxford. The
Centre's research focuses on gender, culture and development, and
members are from a variety of backgrounds (social anthropology,
economics, politics, sociology, literature, law). In addition to
research, the Centre organises weekly seminars, regular lectures and
workshops, and has an active Visiting Fellowship programme.
Visiting Fellows come from all over the world, for periods ranging
from a month to a year. They come with their own research plans, but
may receive teaching, supervision and guidance from the Centre if
required. They have the opportunity to attend seminars, lectures and
workshops within the University, and may present papers if they wish
to. Fellows are given desk space, computer facilities and access to
the University's libraries, and are fully integrated into Queen
Elizabeth House activities.
Fellows will have university qualifications, and be capable of
self-directed study under guidance if appropriate. Topics of
research should be broadly relevant to gender issues. The standard fee is
1,400 pounds sterling per term. For applicants from an EC country,
it may well be worth applying for a European Commission Marie Curie
Fellowship to fund the costs while here.
If you, or any of your colleagues or postgraduate students, are
