Hi folks,
Here at the University of Ulster we create web publisher accounts for
individuals and then allow them to update specific parts of the web
tree. Our web service is running under Solaris and this is all
achieved using the standard Unix file security and for the most part
seems to work quite well.
Things are starting to get more complicated in that some of the larger
departments are wanting people to have coordination roles and be able
to modify the whole department tree with several people being delegated
to only modify certain parts of it. I guess with carefull planning this
can achieved using the standard Unix group mechanism (at least from
initial experimentation this seems to work).
How do other institutions handle web publisher accounts and deal with
problems of this sort.
Regards,
Gareth
