MOBILITY IMPAIRMENT

Applications are invited from candidates for a research
assistantship/fellowship to undertake research into travel
behaviour and mobility impairment issues. The successful
applicant will be expected to work on research council and
government funded grants. The main duties of the post-holder
will be for work funded under the EPSRC EQUAL in the Built
Environment programme for evaluating the impact of a personal
navigation system, called ALF, on the travel behaviour of
visually impaired and older people. You will also be required
to undertake in-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys of the
mobility impaired, older people and other travellers including
car and public transport users. The successful candidate will
be expected to have a working knowledge of social research
methods and experience of undertaking quantitative and
qualitative studies in transport and/or studies of personal mobility.
You should be qualified to degree level in any of the following
areas: psychology/behavioural sciences, geography or planning,
social survey methods, or transport studies. The post is for 30
