We are consultants working very intensivly with sustainable transport
plans, mobility management, bicycle traffic etc. etc. We have devolped
Swedens most extensive sustainable transport plan for the city of Lund (A
Swedish university town). Some planners here i Lund have told me that
some Swedish national environmental polititians had been visiting >
Nottingham lately, discusing among other things bicycle traffic. They had
then, says the rumour, been told that you in Nottingham are planning to
take away all the bicycle tunnels!
Since ther at the moment is an onging debate avbout some cycle tunnels
here they were very pleased to find a place e you were planning to take
away the tunnels. The planners here in town a afraid that the local
politians will this as an excuse not to build any more tunnels.
My question is: Is it true that you are taking away the tunnels? In what
situations will this be done? What research results (or experiences) lies
behind this decision?
