Nigel -
Wetland technologies are receiving most attention from a research point of view.
Agencies involved in stormwater management in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia)
are in the process of publishing a comprehensive "Best Practice Environmental
Management Guideline for Urban Stormwater" that includes some information on the
full spectrum of stormwater treatment measures. The draft guideline was
published some time ago and the "final" is approaching publication (publishing
is being managed by CSIRO Publishing) - we expect publication late July - early
August this year (cost to be around $75 (Australian)).
The information on treatment measures is derived from ongoing work of the
Co-operative Research Centres (CRCs) for Catchment Hydrology and Freshwater
Ecology. I would suggest that you contact these CRCs for further information on
their programs (Prof Tom McMahon at CRC Catchment Hydrology (University of
Melbourne) & Dr Peter Breen at CRC Freshwater Ecology [log in to unmask]

Subject: Stormwater Polishing
Dear list members,
I am an undergraduate Environmental Engineer doing my thesis on the
"tertiary" treatment of urban stormwater, reviewing in-line technologies
to polish stormwater after it has passed through a gross pollutant trap
such as a CDS unit. I am excluding wetlands from this review.
If anyone has any other technologies they are currently researching or
that I may have overlooked could you please direct me towards any
resources you may know of, papers or commercial information.
Thank you
Nigel Bosworth
