Call for Papers
TRANSPORTING GENDER
6-7 October 2000
National Railway Museum York,UK
The aim of this conference is to discuss what difference gender has
made or could make to considerations of issues and questions in transport
history and the history of travel. Contributions are invited from all
researchers interested in the history of gender in relation to transport and
travel.
Jointly organized by the Institute of Railway Studies, the University of
Nottingham, School of American and Canadian Studies and The Journal of
Transport History.
Those interested in offering papers must submit an abstract of 250 words by
1 March 2000 to Maggie Walsh at either [log in to unmask] or

All paper presenters are expected to register and pay the conference fee
(probably not more than £15.00) and their travel expenses, overnight
accommodation and subsistence. If grant applications are successful the
conference fee will be waived for postgraduate students and there
will be some financial assistance towards their UK travel expenses. There
may also be some UK travel expenses available for overseas paper presenters.
