Discuss the history and role of women at sea in a new Web-based forum from the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
(Apologies for cross-posting).
There are many ways women connect with the sea. WRENS, fishermen's wives, marine scientists, liner stewardesses, yachtswomen and maritime artists to name but a few. Are you interested in hearing and talking about such women? Are you already doing research on them - be it family history or academic papers? Then the Women and the Sea Network discussion group is for you. Topics currently being discussed include women on board Navy ships and women Cape Horners.
The network is open to men as well as women, and to people from all walks of life, not only academics. The discussion group uses a bulletin board system; that is, discussion takes place on the Web rather than via email. We hope that you will take part. To do so, you need to register in order to receive a password. You can find full guidance on joining the group from the Women and the Sea Network Web pages (http://www.nmm.ac.uk/rcs/women/index.htm).
Please circulate this message to anyone who may be interested.
Best wishes
