CURRENT ISSUES IN TOURISM
Theme Issue: TOURISM IN THE INDIAN OCEAN REGION
CALL FOR PAPERS
Aim and scope of issue
This issue aims to present detailed, innovative studies of tourism in the
Indian Ocean Region. An important aspect of these papers will be their
blending of applied and theoretical knowledge. Tourism in this region is
emerging and little is known about some countries in the wider tourism
research literature. Among an almost indefinable list of potential foci,
studies could encompass any one or more of the following:
Tourism in the region eg. statistics, flows, patterns
Economic dimensions
Social and cultural issues
Environmental considerations
Political and public sector aspects
Planning and public sector aspects
Transport and infrastructure
Human resource management
Marketing approaches
Regionalisation
Country case studies
Submitted manuscripts will be evaluated in terms of the extent to which
they clarify, inform or theorise the development of tourism in the Indian
Ocean Region countries. Both empirical and conceptional papers are welcome
as are country case studies.
