We sent a similar request to Karl a few months ago and there is now a
routine available that performs the same kind of voxel extraction in
spm99 as "spm_region" did in spm96.
try looking in the archives for the following messages :

We have tried it and as far as I can tell it differs from the previous
version in a couple of ways. Firstly, you now specify a radius and the
routine returns the activated voxels within this region. Secondly, I am
not sure whether it now returns the voxel locations for those extracted
time courses - I have so far been unable to find the appropriate matrix
of voxel locations.
