I have a situation in which we are interested in looking at PET scans of
patients on and off drug. The original plan was to compare 5 scans on drug
and 5 scans off drug. However, some patients show that they were only on
drug for 1 or 2 scans. Therefore I have 4 options:
1) use 5 scans off and 5 on for each subject
2) use equal number of scans for each subject based on the lowest number of
scans (i.e. 1 off and 1 on for ecah subject)
3) use a unique number of scans for each subject based on actual scans on
and off drug while balancing the on off scans (i.e. if 3 scans on then
compare with 3 scans off)
4) use a unique number of scans for each subject based on actual scans on
and off drug without balancing off ad on scans (i.e. 3 scans on with 5
scans off)
My question is, which one of these methods is the standard, if there is
one? Other recommendations?
Thanks
