Dear all,
I can't remember whether or not someone has pointed out this the
subscribers of [log in to unmask] and
[log in to unmask] that the MIRIAD database is now available
via its webpages.
What is MIRIAD?
The Midwifery Research Database, MIRIAD, is a unique compilation of
information about ongoing and completed research in midwifery. From 1988 to
1998 details about midwifery research studies in the UK were collected.
Details of studies in clinical practice, midwifery education, the
organization of midwifery services and the history of midwifery were all
included. This is the only source of information about much of this work,
many of the completed studies have never been published elsewhere.
How did we find MIRIAD studies?
To find studies we generated publicity about the database each year in
professional and research journals and at relevant conferences. We also
used our extensive network of contacts in research to identify studies and
to ask researchers for details. Researchers were asked to contact us for a
registration form. They then returned that form to the MIRIAD office,
giving details about their study. If the criteria for entry to the database
were fulfilled (see below) their studies were entered onto the computer,
and examined for accuracy and completeness. A printout was then sent back
to the researchers for checking.
