As we begin the next millennium and move into the 21st century, all modes of
transportation will become much more important. Whether it is highways,
airports, public transit, ports or rails, we must consider ways to keep up
with the needs of economic growth. Our goal to provide the citizens of
Mississippi and this nation with the safest, most cost effective, and
technologically advanced transportation system possible can only be
accomplished through an exchange of ideas and information. One way to
achieve this is utilizing technical meetings and presentations.
Participants are encouraged to submit proposals for presentations dealing
with the wide array of transportation issues. This conference will be the
beginning of a better understanding among the many crucial players in the
transportation field.
Presentation proposals should be submitted on the accompanying form. The
information provided should be sufficient to allow reviewers to evaluate the
proposal. A brief abstract of each proposal selected will be included in
conference program materials, so the abstract should represent a concise,
accurate summary of the presentation. All presenters should plan to utilize
a forty-five minute time slot. Presenters are responsible for submitting
their audio/video equipment needs on the presentation proposal form. This
letter and form, along with other updated information, are available in the
Technical Program section of the MTC 2000 website at:
www.mdot.state.ms.us/mtc/technical.htm. A file containing the raw-text of
the presentation proposal form, which can be saved, edited, and emailed is
attached to this e-mail.
The deadline for submission of presentation proposals is January 31, 2000.
