David
There has been a more recent survey done on the UK awareness of science. I
went to a presentation of the results at the Royal Society either early this
year or late 98. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the people
giving the paper (I only remember the fact about DNA and Jurassic Park so I
don't think much else had changed!)
My supervisor at the time, Jonathan Osborne from Kings College, attended
the lecture and he may have more details. You could try mailing him on
[log in to unmask] or, I know he reads this list, so he may respond
to your message any way.
If that fails you could try Melanie Quin at Techniquest as she was there too
and now teaches the PUS module of our Communicating Science course so she
may have the references. try [log in to unmask]
Good Luck!
