Hey,
You work for national geographic? That is really cool if it is true,
but you were asking about fun facts on porifera (sponges).
Well, on my website i have information of fun facts about Sponges (we
actually have a button on our website that reads "Fun Facts!" We made this
webpage for an international web page creation contest called ThinkQuest,
and right now we are semi-finalists. We are trying to spark interest in our
webpage...so that we can win, of course : ). One cool fact that i know
viewers will be very interested in, is that Sponges have anti-cancer
properties and are currently being tested as a cure for cancer. (They
release a substance that contains bromine...which kills coral and things.
This substance inhibits the growth of organisms and things around it) There
are many facts that are quite interesting on out website. If you use the
information that you get off of our website...I ask that you please give the
proper credit and stuff like that....i also have one question...when will
this be airing, i am pretty sure that the contest that i am in is finishing
soon (finalists are being chosen) The most help that i could possible get
would be if you could just spread the word about my site...i need all of the
hits that i can get to win. Alright, now here is the website...
http://library.advanced.org/26502/ (please sign the guest book, and join
the forum, and of course post in it...this can be a fast means of
communication between the people that you have contacts with) To get the
"Fun Facts" section of our website, please click on the students page, and
then look at the menu that comes to the left, and click on fun facts...Thank
You!
(The forum and guestbook stuff is located on the first page of the students
webpage and the professional webpage. It is located towards the top...it
should be easy to find, please take time to look over the site : ) )

Subject: Sponge Superlatives
> Hello,
> I am writing once again from Sea Studios in California, home of the "Shape
> of Life" project for National Geographic. We are now in production on all
8
> hours of television, including our hour on Sponges. I am currently in
> search of sponge superlatives and fun facts - to add a little "Wow,
sponges
> are cool" factor for the audience. If you have any superlatives to share
> (such as the biggest, best, brightest, most amazing sponge) please share
> them with me. Of course, I don't want to start any arguments amongst the
> sponge scientists about which sponge is best!
> A good example of a "fun fact" would be something like...if you put an
> average sized sponge in the bottom of an olympic size pool - it would pump
> all the water through it's body in 24 hours.
