Good to hear from you. As a young man I cannot say I was much of a Warhol
fan myself and only later in life did I begin to appreciate the finer
aspects of art and creativity. I do recall, as a very young podiatrist, in
the UK attending rather a posh, celeb type, party with some Hooray Henries
deep in the Oxford Countryside. Money was no object and the champagne was
flowing free. I have to admit when I saw an old Campbell's Soup box
sitting on the kitchen table I could not helpmyself from teasing my
illeterate yuppie chums, telling them this was the orginal (and worth quite
a few pounds). A colluding campanion confirmed same and needless to say the
box went missing soon after. I have often wondered if it is still held in
vaults somewhere, waiting to be valued.

Something which did strike me as rather irritating about the Warhol
exhibition was the number of tv sets running the Warhol interviews.
Nowadays we take video and cable tv for granted (not necessarily for good)
but of couse artists like Warhol experimented with these long before they
became established in our lives. So I suppose I cannot help acknowledge his
influence on modern life. The mere fact he started as a commercial
illustrator and had an opinion on shoes just makes it for me.

Louis XIV (the Sun King) was well known for his red heeled shoes. A tribute
to Gengus Khan and his conquering hoards who wore small wooden heels to
stablisise them when on horseback. Louis was also taken with ballet and
whilst participating in the Royal frolic discovered his favourite pastime,
clothing. During his reign colonic irrigation became a fashionable craze in
Paris. The king received over 2000 irrigations during his lifetime, all in
an endevour to improve his complexion. Historians believe he often
conversed openly with his ambassadors and courtiers whilst seated on his
commode.
