Call for Papers: Special Issue Theme: Learning individually: life-
long perspective

'Educational Technology & Society' (ISSN 1436-4522) peer-reviewed
journal

http://ifets.gmd.de/periodical/

One cannot survive in quickly changing technological world
without upgrading one's knowledge and skills, mastering new tools
and procedures. Learning, which was attributed to the childhood
and youth, became a life-long activity. Understanding of this
fact requires reconsideration of educational process and training
tools, but also motivates new design decisions for wide range of
software applications. Life- long learning cannot be covered by
traditional re-training courses, it requires new forms, new
solutions, integration of results of cognitive science,
artificial intelligence, instructional design and many others.
This issue will focus on the needs of individual learner and
technological innovations that may enhance the learning, making
it efficient and fascinating, focused and flexible, deep and
diverse.

We invite submissions discussing:

* specifics of the adult learning, advises of psychologists and
  findings of tutors;
* innovative technology-enhanced re-training methods;
* tools and resources for learning individually;
* knowledge-based performance support systems, open learning
   environments; and
* other relevant issues.

that fall into one of the following categories:

* full length articles describing research results, presenting
  thorough discussion and comparative analysis of methods or
  tools (about 7000 words);
* short feature articles presenting case studies, and work in
  progress (about 3000 words); and
* critiques, reviews, individual experience (about 1500 words).

Initial proposals should be concise and contain the main theses
of the proposed paper. They should be forwarded to the guest
editor as a plain text in a body of email message by Friday April
16th 1999. Your proposals will be considered on first come-first
service basis thus allowing for more flexible planning of your
further work.
