A graduate student position (BAT IIa/2) is available in the field of cluster
physics at the Department of Physics of the University of Osnabruck until
December 31, 2001 with special emphasis on
Size Effects in Free Metal Clusters.
The experimental work concerns the construction and testing of cluster sources
for producing variable size clusters. Size effects will be characterized using
synchrotron radiation in the soft and hard X-ray regime. Detection techniques
include mass spectrometry, photoelectron spectroscopy, and coincidence
spectroscopies. The experimental results will be interpreted using model
calculations. Applicants should have experience in the above mentioned fields.
They should also be motivated to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration
projects. Applicants are required to assist in teaching of students and they
should have a diploma or equivalent degree in physics or chemistry. The
position
is suitable for further qualification (doctorate).
The University of Osnabrück endeavors to employ a higher portion of female
academic staff. Female candidates are therefore encouraged to apply, and
will be
selected if suitably qualified. Physically handicapped applicants will take
precedence if equally qualified.
Applications containing the customary documents should be sent by 01.05.1999 to
the Dekan des Fachbereichs Physik, Universitat Osnabruck, Barbarastr. 7, D-49069
Osnabruck, Germany.
