and hopefully you will find all you need. According to the website, there's
still six rescue stations in the UK, which cannot exactly be overworked
these days. I used to occasionally speak to the people at Dinas, very
helpful indeed. In those days (early 1990's) they had a massive map on the
wall with the locations of all the (then many) licenced coal mines in South
Wales - another part of the mining industry that has almost vanished in the
last five years, almost unnoticed apart from the pit ponies at Pantygasseg
finishing earlier this year.
Incidentally, were those really the last pit ponies in use in this country
or are a few still used somewhere obscure in the Valleys?
