Geoff,
This certainly one of the problems which may be associated with development
of this type. They are seen as boosting the local economy which then
becomes the primary purpose, rather than enhancing public awareness of our
mining 'heritage' through the interpretation of sites.
However I am sure that members of other MINET partners would not interpret
the quoted aim in the manner that has been portayed in Cornwall. One
important factor in any attempt to interpret a mining site is that should
look like a mining site, warts and all!
