Some or all of those listed as directors of Cronebane were also
directors of the Macclesfield Company, which worked at Alderley Edge in
Cheshire, and at various places in north Wales, including Parys
Mountain, Penrhyn Du, Llandudno and Snowdon. There are two articles by
the late W H Chaloner on Charles Roe of Macclesfield in the Transactions
of the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian society, Vols 52-3 (1950-3).
I do not have a copy to hand, but I think that you will find references
to Cronebane in it. See also A H Dodd, The Industrial Revolution in
North Wales (3 rd ed, 1971), Ch 5, and J R Harris, The Copper King
(1964). Their work at Llanberis is described in P Crew, 'The Copper
Mines of Llanberis and Clogwyn Coch', Caernarvonshire Historical Society
Transactions, Vol 37 (1976). Hodgson, Hawkins and Mills also had leases
of the mines on the Hafod-y-llan estate on Snowdon (D Bick, The Old
Copper Mines of Snowdonia (1982), p 69), and Llandudno (my 'Great Orme
Mines', British Mining No 52 (1995).
