Hej Marcia
Actally I am not making a study on cesearean. But I was contacted by a
midwife in a hospital who meet a women with incest experience, this women
had been offered a cesearean and send to the hospital from her midwife.
This question made me wounder how women with such an experience feel about
cesearean. Is it a relief or what ? ( I know women are different beeing,
but anyway I would like to hear some women tell about their thoughts). I
found descriptions on vaginal deliveries, her the women tell`s that
privacy, control and touch are important aspects of care. Care must equally
be individualized. (The experience of childbirth for survivors of incest by
Jenny Parratt in MIdwifery 1994. 10, 26-39
Your study sound very interesting and I will look forward to hear your
findings.
Sincerly

Subject: Re: cesearean section and incest
no.... i don't know literature.... but i was told a story of a young
village
woman who was pregnant due to rape [aggressor unspecified]. she also
considered her experience at the gynecologists as horrible and something
she
wanted to forget. she wanted THIS child, but no future ones and had no
intention of ever marrying.... ever. this was the story that her
obstetrician told me [this is not her story, must take that into account].
He told me that this was one of the cases that he agreed to do a cesarean
for 'psychological' reasons. We could get mad and angry at this
obstetrician for not dealing with all the underlying problems and working
with this woman in another way.... but i am held back from that because he
was one of the gentlest, non-arrogant, and critical thinkers about medicine
that i met in my entire research.
i am also studying cesareans here in mexico, and want to understand why
doctors agree to do them, as well as the multiple reasons women might ask
for them. if you are doing work like this, i would like to hear more.
marcia good maust
