CALL FOR PAPERS, American Association for the History of
Medicine, Bethesda, MD, May 18-21, 2000.
The American Association for the History of Medicine
welcomes papers on topics related to the history of health and
healing; of medical ideas, practices and institutions;the
history of illness, disease, and public health--from all eras
and regions of the world. The program committee welcomes
session proposals and proposals for luncheon workshops; as in
previous years, the papers for such sessions will be judged on
their individual merits. All papers must represent original work not already
published or in press.
Please send six copies of a one page abstract of no more
than 350 words to Harry M. Marks, Dept. of the History of
Science, Medicine & Technology, The Johns Hopkins University,
1900 E. Monument Street, Baltimore, MD 21205. Abstracts should
not merely state a research question, but describe findings and
conclusions sufficient to allow assessment by the program committee. Please
also provide the following information: Name, preferred
mailing address, work and home telephone numbers, present institutional
affiliation and academic degrees. Abstracts must be received by 1 October
1999. E-mail or faxed proposals will not be accepted.
