For the first time in the UK, a unique touring showcase of
contemporary French cinema
>From highbrow to high action, a selection of seven recent French films
will travel throughout the UK this autumn in the Martell French Cinema
Tour. Martell Cognac and the French Embassy have joined forces to
showcase the strength and variety of the French Film Industry. Odeon
Cinemas is supporting the tour by screening most of the films in
seventeen city centre cinemas – making films more easily accessible
and attracting new audiences to French film. City Screen will also
host the tour in four venues. This is the first time in forty years
that French cinema has been promoted in the United Kingdom on such a
grand scale.
The Tour aims to become an annual festival. The Tour aims to become an
annual festival. ‘Providing widespread distribution of French films in
the UK is one of our main goals’ says Christian Boudier, the Tour
organiser. ‘Martell Cognac was eager to work with us on fostering new
audiences for French cinema in this country. The Tour highlighhts a
new generation of actors and directors.’
