PhD Studentships: Language and
Communication Research
School of English Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University,
UK
A number of research studentships are available from September 1999
for three years. Applicants should have good honours degrees (or be
expected to obtain same this year) and be UK/EU citizens (or have been
resident in the UK/EU for at least three years for reasons other than
education)
The Centre carries ESRC mode A recognition and high ratings for its
research and teaching (RAE 5A and TQA excellent) All PhD students are
required to complete our ESRC recognised research training scheme
during the first two semesters.
We are particularly interested in high quality applications in:
sociolinguistics
health communication
corpus linguistics
media discourse
language learning
teaching and testing
code-switching
Welsh/Celtic linguistics and phonetics
The full studentship covers fees and maintenance. Succesful applicants
will and play a full part in the Department's postgraduate programme.
