Following Wendy Sudbury's e-mail, just thought I would let you know that
I have recently returned from five months maternity leave, but I have
been in post since July 1997. It was David Dawson who let me know
about these lists and how useful they are for disseminating information.
I have been aware, and make use of, the Cultural Heritage & EC Funding
website which is very helpful. We obviously don't want to duplicate any
work done there or elsewhere, but it is important that we get out any
information we receive on EC funding programmes and international
opportunities generally.
Further news on Ten-Telecom. I attended the Information Day on the
programme run by UKISHelp who are the UK national contact point for all
European Union information society programmes. They are operated by
Peter Walters who would be very pleased to talk to any museum or gallery
considering making an application under any of the open calls for
proposals. Or even if you just want to know more about what is
available. He can be contacted at [log in to unmask] or tel: 0870-606
1515. For the most up-to-date call for proposals and information on
partner searches, go to: http://www.echo.lu/tentelecom
Some further pointers came out on making applications to Ten-Telecom:
* Applications must be for either the project feasability phase or
market testing. Don't apply if you are just at the concept stage.
* Ensure that your partnerships are credible.
* Your project must be trans-European and demonstrate that
European funding will make a difference.
* Ensure that the role and structure of your partnership is clear.
Which of your partners can provide the skills needed to get the job
done?
* It is helpful if your project manager can demonstrate a track
record in taking forward similar projects.
* If there are areas in your application that even you have
queries or doubts about, don't ignore them, raise them as issues to be
resolved.
* Museums & galleries, who will obviously not be demonstrating a
profit in the business plan, should be able to clearly show that they
have secure funding to take the project forward.
* Your business plan should demonstrate clearly for which markets
you intend to provide a service.
If you would like any more details on the presentations made during the
day, please contact me off-list.
