cross-posting.  I had to keep this message as brief as possible, so did
not
have the opportunity to publicise your list as agreed, but I intend to
send
a 'round-up' message after the meeting including anything like this
arising.
The message to be circulated is:


If you wish to attend the VVECC meeting on 'Perceptual Interfaces for
human
media interaction in virtual environments' you should register now.  The
meeting will be held at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on Wednesday
20th
January 1999, and the closing date for registration is Friday 8th
January.

The seminar presents the state of the art in perceptual and multimodal
interfaces, with speakers experienced in this innovative field.  It aims
to
demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that the more novel interfaces
offer, and is an opportunity for researchers and developers to learn
more
and meet experts in the field.

The speakers and the titlesof their talks are:

Dr Matthias Unbescheiden (Fraunhofer IGD, Darmstadt) - Evaluation of
Innovative VR Technology: Experiments and Applications with CAVEs

Dr Nick Holliman (Sharp Laboratories of Europe, Oxford) - Observer Head
Tracking for Auto-stereoscopic 3D Displays

Prof David Hogg (School of Computer Studies, University of Leeds) -
Vision-based Perceptual Interfaces

Dr John Wann (Department of Psychology, University of Reading) - Visual
and
Haptic Interfaces for VR: hovering around the fringes of natural human
perception

Mr Mark Wells (Televirtual, Norwich) - Using a Virtual Human as a
Communication Tool for the Deaf 

Dr Andrew Hardwick (BT Laboratories, Ipswich) - Rough Computing and the
Tardis: Haptic Access to Computers for Blind People and Others

fee
should be paid before the date of the meeting; we can arrange to send an

meeting, and we cannot guarantee that places will be available for late
