Subject: Collaborative Working - VVECC event on 25th May
Please would you circulate this round the London VR Group:
Registration is now open for the next VVECC event:
COLLABORATIVE WORKING IN VISUALIZATION AND VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS
Date: Tuesday 25th May 1999
Place: Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
Increasingly tasks are carried out by multi-disciplinary groups, with
members of these groups at different geographical locations. In the
Community Club areas of visualization and virtual environments, we need
to
understand how this way of working can be supported. This meeting will
explore both the technology and the people issues that need to be
addressed
- to make collaborative working work!
The speakers at the meeting, and titles of their talks, will be:
Prof Tom Rodden (University of Lancaster)
Building Electronic Landscapes
Prof Roy Kalawsky (University of Loughborough)
Human aspects of computer-supported collaborative working
Dr Adrian West and Dr Steve Pettifer (University of Manchester)
Deva + GNU Maverik: challenges in distributed VE architecture
Prof Mel Slater (UCL)
Co-Presence Amplifies Emotional Response: a case study on the fear of
public
speaking
Dr Michael Craven (University of Nottingham)
Applications of Collaborative Virtual Environments
Prof David Duce (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) and Dr Jason Wood
(University of Leeds)
Sharing Expertise Worldwide: where does the desktop end?
Details of the meeting and electronic registration can be found at:
http://www.itd.clrc.ac.uk/Activity.asp?CCEvents
The VVECC meeting held earlier this year was fully subscribed by the
closing
date, so we would urge members to register without delay.
Please do pass these details to any colleagues who would be interested.
If
you have any queries (or difficulty with electronic registration) please
contact me.
